The German Court of Arbitration for Sport provides efficient and expert mechanisms to resolve various types of disputes related to sport, including in connection with contracts and commercial law (e.g. sponsoring contracts), corporate law (e.g. the grant or withdrawal of licenses or participation rights) or rules of associations (e.g. disciplinary disputes, especially anti-doping violations).

Different arbitration rules apply to two broad categories of disputes: sport-related commercial disputes and anti-doping disputes.

Sport-related commercial disputes

Sport-related commercial disputes include, for example:

  • Transfer disputes
  • Event-related contracts
  • License agreements
  • Equipment contracts
  • Sponsorship contracts
  • Player agency contracts
  • Player management agreements
  • Association disputes
  • Other disputes related to sport

Anti-doping disputes

Anti-doping disputes arise from violations of anti-doping rules by athletes and are settled in accordance with the special provisions of the DIS Sport Arbitration Rules.
